Reflecting on a Successful Year of Leadership at Astronomy Now
As 2025 draws to a close, it feels like just yesterday when I signed the agreement to assume leadership of Astronomy Now at the Royal Astronomical Society in June. The quick passage of these past six months is astonishing, filled with developments and experiences that have left me exhilarated. My connection to this magazine traces back to the early 1990s, and it holds a special significance for me; being entrusted with its stewardship is a profound honor.
The support I have received from you, our readership, has been both uplifting and motivating. However, it is essential to recognize that the magazine’s success hinges on the collective efforts of a remarkable team. I want to take this moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for my colleagues: Mark Armstrong, Emily Baldwin, Steve Kelly, Steve Ringwood, and Greg Smye-Rumsby. Their incredible contributions have been invaluable, and it has been a privilege to collaborate with such kind and dedicated individuals.
Equally important are the insights and expertise provided by our columnists, including Ian Seymour, Colin Stuart, Nik Szymanek, Owen Brazell, Bob Argyle, Tracie Louise Heywood, and Neil Norman, among others. Their commitment to enriching the magazine ensures that we deliver a wealth of astronomical knowledge to our readers every month.
I would also like to acknowledge the vital behind-the-scenes efforts from Intermedia, Select Publisher Services, MagCirc Solutions, Buxton Press, and Spatial Global, all of whom have gone above and beyond in recent months to ensure the magazine reaches as many readers as possible.
Most importantly, I extend my deepest thanks to you, our readers. Your support makes our work meaningful. As we prepare for 2026, we are excited about the many new initiatives planned for the magazine, the website, and our forthcoming app. We look forward to unveiling these developments and hope you will join us on this journey. Here’s to clear skies ahead!
